Thinking about attending the Flagstaff Roof Rally? RAD!!! Here are the answers to all of your questions (well, most of them anyway):

Q. What is it?

The Flagstaff Roof Rally is largest outdoor bouldering competition in the Southwest held at Priest Draw. It will give climbers the ability to test their roof climbing skills against their peers, but most importantly, it’s just a great excuse for climbers to rally together and celebrate our awesome community.

Q. Where and what is Priest Draw?

Priest Draw is highly-unique limestone bouldering area famous for its quality roof climbing located approximately 20 minutes out of Flagstaff, Arizona. Click here for directions.

Q. I want to come for the weekend, where should I park and where can I camp?

There will be designated parking areas clearly marked the day of the event. We recommend leaving your car where you set up camp and walk to the comp area. Camping is on a first-come, first served basis. Click here to see our event map.

Q. If I’m not competing, can I still climb?

Yes. However, space will be limited and we ask that climbing priority be given to registered competitors. Spectators are more than welcome to help spot.

Q. Will there be food and beverages?

Yes! Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Flagstaff’s own Wil’s Grill will be onsite all-day Saturday grilling up goodness. A meal ticket will be available to purchase upon registration and will be included in your competition packet if purchased. The meal ticket includes an entrée, one side, and one drink at a discounted rate. If a meal ticket isn’t for you, no worries! You can still purchase food and beverages individually during the event.

Q. Will you have beer for me?

There will be no alcoholic beverages for sale at the event. BYOB!

Q. Can I bring my dog?

You’re welcome to bring your dog, just keep in mind that the competition area will be crowded and your dog will not be welcome under or near the roofs during the event.

Q. Can I bring my gun and shoot stuff?

No. We feel very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to throw an event of this type on USFS land. Rock climbers are a huge user group of our Forest, and our actions at this event will speak volumes to land managers about how we treat our land. Please respect the sensitive nature of the area, and demonstrate your best behavior at the event. It will be enough of a “gun show” already.

Q. Can I have fire?

Most likely. It is anticipated that there will be no fire restrictions during the event. Check with the Forest Service on current fire restrictions here.

Q. I’m a beginner, should I even try to compete?

Absolutely! We’ll have approximately 200 boulder problems of all abilities and skill levels included in the competition.

Q. What boulder problems will be included in the competition?

Most boulder problems established in the Priest Draw will be included in the competition and highlighted in your scorebook. To keep it fair, scorebooks will not be available until the morning of the competition. Sorry folks...

Q. Is Howard’s Draw included in the competition?

No. Howard’s Draw, a confluence of the Priest Draw will not be part of this competition.

Q. Will there be a registration increase?

Yes. See our registration page for more information.

Q. What if I injure myself and I’ve already registered?

Your registration fee can be refunded up to a week prior to the event (September 25, 2017). After that, your registration fee is non-refundable.

Q. Will you be accepting registrations the day of the comp?

Yes, you can register the day of the event (see event schedule for cut-off times). Registration fees will increase the day of the event and payment will be CASH ONLY onsite!

Q. Do I need to bring my harness and my ATC?

No. Bring your crash pad(s)!

Q. Will there be crash pads provided?

Yes. We will have a limited number of crash pads for competitors to use. Safety first!

Q. Will there be “eliminate” boulder problems at the event?

No. There will be no eliminates (problems where certain holds are not allowed to be used) included in the competition.

Q. What if it rains?

If it rains on Saturday, we’ll attempt to shift the event to Sunday the 30th

Q. Can I volunteer to help out?

Yes! If you’re not competing and interested in helping out with the event WE NEED YOU! Please inquire at Beta to find out what you can do to help out.
